How can you want Mohamed Salah to be sold?

Liverpool fans have urged Mohamed Salah to be sold in order to make way for fresh blood in the squad and that is complete madness.

Why is the Express talking about moving on one of the best forwards in the world to make room for another player who is of equal or lesser quality?

The whole point of the transfer market is to upgrade the playing staff to help the team. No amount of money will help the Reds do that if they sell the Egyptian – who has a phenomenal record for Liverpool.

With 91 goals and 37 assists in 144 games, Mohamed Salah is already a Liverpool legend. It would be like getting rid of Michael Owen in his absolute pomp, or Fernando Torres before the goals started to dry up.

Yes, he can be frustrating to watch sometimes and he’s never reached the heights of that dizzy debut season. But Salah was never going to, it’s just not possible – unless he turned into Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo.

And of course, Jadon Sancho is a great player and will get better. But why does it have to come down to one or the other?

Jurgen Klopp likes to have a smaller squad and kudos to him for doing so, but four world-class forwards in the squad would be manageable and would give the team incredible strength in depth.

Imagine Sancho learning from Salah or Sadio Mane or Roberto Firmino for the next three years before he comes the best player in the world. I couldn’t think of a better place for his development, could you?

The lack of understanding about how good the Egyptian is frustrating. He’s one of the best forwards the club has ever seen and deserves to be thought of as such.

So no, we don’t want to sell Mohamed Salah to make room for anyone.
