Premier League star wishes he never left Liverpool
Former Liverpool youngster Jonjo Shelvey wishes he never left Liverpool for Swansea City when he was just 21-years-old.
Liverpool signed Jonjo Shelvey from Charlton Athletic in 2010 after he impressed for the Addicks, but he never really made the most of his time at Anfield.
69 appearances brought seven goals and four assists, as well as a loan spell to Blackpool that highlighted the midfielder’s ability as he scored six times in 10 games with three assists.
But he was never really patient enough to wait for his chance and decided to take things into his own hands aged just 21.
"“When you’re playing once and then not playing for six games, I don’t care what any footballer says, you don’t feel involved. You don’t feel part of the team.” Sky Sports reported that he said.“I think that was the feeling I wanted but, in hindsight, should I have stayed? Probably, yeah. Even if it was only for another year or two, just to see how things changed.“But it is what it is at the end of the day.”"

Plenty of players have stuck around to try and make something of their time at Liverpool. Jordan Henderson is a prime example of this as he knew the privilege that comes with pulling on the Liver Bird.
He waited and was rewarded. Shelvey never did.
When he’s on form, the current Newcastle United man is one of the best passers of the ball in the Premier League. He can see things few others can and that vision, when put alongside his technical ability, can unlock defences.
But he’s so temperamental that few sides are willing to take a punt on him. There have been times with the Toon and with Swansea City that he looks a million dollars but then quickly reverts back to type.
That’s why he’s only picked up six caps for England, all which came during a strangely motivated few years in Wales.
He just seems happy to doss about in the north-east, putting in a man of the match performance here and there to remind everyone of his talent before disappearing to the golf course for a few months.

That’s the real shame in it. It’s a good thing Shelvey didn’t stick around Liverpool, because he wouldn’t have got very far with the attitude he has.
