Manchester United right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka would get nowhere near this Liverpool side, so we can stop the debate now.
There’s been a massive debate in English football about the merits of Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold and Aaron Wan-Bissaka, but the Man Utd man reckons he’s cracked it.
Wan-Bissaka, who moved from Crystal Palace to Old Trafford for an eye-watering £50 million, hasn’t played for England yet – but that hasn’t stopped the argument.
Alexander-Arnold is a regular for Gareth Southgate and has already broken Premier League records, while his rival is busy trying to stem the tide of poor Red Devils’ performances.
The debate normally centers around Aaron Wan-Bissaka being better than Trent because he can defender to a higher level. That’s why Patrick van Aanholt rates his former teammate as the better of the two, despite having a brain and two eyes in his head.
"The Mirror reported that he said the United man was: “Better than Alexander-Arnold? Without a shadow of doubt. They are different players. Defensively, Aaron is unbelievable, better than Trent.“Yes, Trent has got his attacking and his corners, his right foot. But if you ask Wilf [Zaha] who he would want to play against, every other day, Trent or Wan-Bissaka, I think he will say Trent.”"

But going down that route is null and void, for the simple reason that Liverpool would never pick the 22-year-old and that kinda defeats the point of the argument.
Jurgen Klopp doesn’t need his full-backs to make loads and loads of tackles and interceptions a game. He needs them to bomb down the flank and put crosses into the box, switch play and provide width as Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah cut inside.
In this regard, Wan-Bissaka would never be good enough. He has just two assists all season, while Alexander-Arnold has 12 and two goals.
Not only that, but he has Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez keeping the middle secure while Fabinho patrols the middle of the park and mops things up.
Jordan Henderson and Georginio Wijnaldum keep the rest of the side solid and defensively sound, and it’s a formation that has conceded the least amount of goals in the entire Premier League.
Stop talking about the two, there’s no contest and it’s getting awkward.
