Liverpool star Georginio Wijnaldum is admired in Barcelona.
Liverpool recently opened contract negotiations with the Dutch midfielder, but they might wanna wrap things up quickly.
That’s because Barca like what he does.
In a line buried near the bottom of a Goal article, Neil Jones wrote that the Catalan side are ‘admirers’, while noted that Juventus and Bayern Munich have been adept at bringing in elite players for nothing.
That implies that there could be as many as three top European sides after the former Newcastle man.
Liverpool have experience with this, having lost Emre Can to Juve, and it would hurt if Georginio Wijnaldum walked for free.
Jurgen Klopp always speaks incredibly highly of his midfielder and it’s a surprise that the club haven’t wrapped up talks for a new deal already.

The key men in this side are rewarded well and kept to long deals. This allows for better planning but it also avoids missing out on a fee if they want to move.
With Barcelona sniffing around Wijnaldum, now would be a good moment to secure him to Merseyside.
A post-COVID financial landscape means that Liverpool wont have the spending power we might have anticipated. They have already walked away from a deal to sign Timo Werner, while Klopp has publicly told fans not to expect much from the transfer window.
That would make replacing a man of Gini’s ability, experience and character really difficult. On the flip side, if someone of his calibre was available you’d expect to see other clubs lining up to have a word with his agent.
Liverpool need talks to move smoothly, and although there haven’t been any suggestions that they won’t, you never know what is being put to his agent by clubs like Barcelona.
