An embarrassed Blackburn have thanked Liverpool.

Liverpool played the Rovers in a friendly game designed to get the Reds up to speed ahead of the resumption of Premier League football.

It didn’t end well for Tony Mowbray’s lads.

A 6-0 win is great for Jurgen Klopp and it should boost the confidence and first team chances of several fringe players. Naby Keita, Takumi Minamino, Leighton Clarkson and Curtis Jones all impressed as the Lancashire side were swotted away.

Liverpool seemed to get up to speed with impressive pace and look like they’ll be well prepared to beat Everton when things resume.

They dismantled Blackburn, who are a good Championship side, with such alarming ease that it left their manager thanking Liverpool for the honour.

At times they were simply unplayable, and the highlights reel make it look like a real match of men vs boys.

Mowbray repeatedly complimented that work Klopp has done as he said the side was unplayable and way too good for his side.

"Ian Doyle from the Echo reported that he said: “It was a great experience for us. I think it highlighted to us where the very best are. It’s amazing to watch the machine that they are.“We all saw that game and I have to be careful that I don’t judge my own players off the standard of that opposition, because they are a pressing machine.”"

It’s good to hear another manager saying good things about this side, who are close to claiming their first top flight title in 30 years. Being top of the league by 25 points means something, but getting the players back up to speed will bring its own challenges.

Relaxed rules about substitutes will probably provide more youngsters a chance to make their mark on the first team. We’re also certainly going to watch Jones in action again, while Minamino will want to prove his worth to the side.

Harvey Elliott has been tipped for big things, and the way Mohamed Salah is rotated will be one of the main talking points.

We’ll all be keeping our eyes on the next practise game to see what insights we can gather, but for now just enjoy the comprehensive, embarrassing win over Blackburn.
