Liverpool vs Man City: Big injury news, odds, embarrassed Pep Guardiola
Liverpool play Man City on Thursday. This is all you need.
There’s been some Liverpool injury news delivered before the big game and it’s broadly positive stuff.
Joel Matip will be missing for the rest of the season and that exposes a pretty big hole in the Reds squad, but Xherdan Shaqiri will be fit for the clash and we could see him again before the campaign ends.
Manchester City will be without Sergio Aguero, who underwent surgery for a knee injury he picked up in the win over Burnley, while Fernandinho is suspended and won’t be available.
Despite Aymeric Laporte coming back from injury, not having Fernandinho in the squad will still be a loss for Pep Guardiola. That means he’ll have to rely on the notoriously unreliable John Stones or Nicolás Otamendi.
That’s good news for Liverpool.
Betting odds (courtesy of Action Network) are pretty tight for this game. Liverpool are +100 with PointsBetNJ, +100 with Draft Kings and +105 with SugarHouse while a draw is +280, +290 and +300.

For Liverpool, Fabinho has been tipped to have a massive influence on the game. The Brazilian had such a massive game against Crystal Palace and showed the whole world why he was considered so highly before that injury against Napoli.
Jordan Henderson and Gini Wijnaldum also had brilliant games, and that midfield looks like Klopp’s strongest and it’s the one we’ll probably see on Thursday night.
Klopp is bound to pick his best XI in order to pile the pressure on an already embarrassed Guardiola. The Spanish manager will have to watch Liverpool being lead out with a guard of honour while his side languish behind them in second place.
The weather is forecast to be good for the game, although it’ll rain during the day and clear up by the time the players take the field.
How do you think the game will go? City are always a tough opponent, they have an excellent side, but Liverpool’s recent record is strong and Klopp’s boys are in a confident place.
