Liverpool take on Burnley this weekend.

Liverpool sit on 92 points, with four matches remaining. They need nine points to break Manchester City’s record century mark from 2017-18.

They have Burnley at Anfield come Saturday afternoon, then Arsenal in London, Chelsea at home, and finish up on the road at Newcastle.

The Reds are good enough to run the table and win the lot and finish with a whopping, mouthwatering 105 points. A record, that might well stand for a very long time.

With 34 wins and two draws and two loses; this could set a standard of excellence that will be hard to overcome. No English side has ever won 34 of 38 matches in any era.

The quest for nine points begins Saturday when Burnley comes to town to take on a Reds side that have taken 10 of 15 available points since the restart. A perfect home record thus far at Anfield is another record up for contention if Klopp’s lads can see off Burnley and an in form Chelsea side on 22, July.

Burnley should prove the easier, as Chelsea have been playing really good football for Frank Lampard since the restart. It seems a tad ironic that Chelsea started the Liverpool collapse in 2014 but made the Reds champions in 2020 by defeating Manchester United a fortnight ago.

Chelsea sit on 60 points and are in a tough fight with an in form Manchester United and a drifting Leicester City side for the top four Champions League spots. City still having to face a UEFA verdict on a proposed two year European ban for FIFA Financial FairPlay violations.

Chelsea will be coming to Anfield with a need to win. They have played spoilers here before.

Burnley are not an easy task, and this too could be a tricky sticky wicket for the Reds. Remember how well Aston Villa frustrated Klopp and the lads for over 2/3rds of the tie a week or so back.

The Clarets have also pulled down 10 points since the restart, with their only loss coming at the hands of Man City on the road in a 5-0 shellacking.

Because of the bunch up of teams from 10th position in the table to the 6th spot, Burnley have an outside chance to find themselves in European football next campaign; where three points separate four sides vying for a Europa League placing.

They too have something to play for although it is a long shot at this point.

Look for Klopp to high press and counter press relentlessly in the opening 20 or 25 minutes in an attempt to strike quickly, as was witnessed at Brighton midweek.

Naby Keita has earned his starting place with an outstanding 60 minutes against the Seagulls. With Jordan Henderson injured (how seriously remains to be seen), expect Gini Wijnaldum and Fabinho to fill out the midfield ticket.

Also I look to see Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino, and Mohamed Salah back in the starting spots as Liverpool will be looking to put this tie to bed by halftime.

This will allow the gaffer the opportunity to give the young lads some game time, while resting some key starters with the trip to London to face the Gunners looming on the horizon.
