Liverpool mean more. This means more.

There have been some comments from Pep Guardiola regarding the recent appeal decision for Manchester City. He has said that this is good for the league and good for football. He has also said that everyone who disagrees should just get over it.

Now when Manchester City were in violation of the rules, Pep wasn’t even at the club. So his comments in this discussion, while interesting, are irrelevant.

He has no way of knowing if in fact City broke the rules as he was in Germany. While his loyalty to City is understandable, his disloyalty to the game and a sport he claims to love is revealing.

He was at Barca when they were hit with FIFA violations.

Jose Mourinho has also came out swinging at City and the decision to remove the two year European ban and reduce the fine. Jose’s ire is a shallow trough of bool sheet, coming from the manager of Chelsea during the period which saw them subsequently banned for FIFA violations themselves.

Chelsea are not the first club to fall afoul of FIFA’s regulations surrounding the transfer of minors. Barcelona, Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid have all been sanctioned in recent years.

Liverpool have not.

Folks who live in glass houses shouldn’t cast stones, it is said. So José has no ethical foundation to weigh in or comment on another’s misdeeds.

This atmosphere of corruption starts at the top and filters down from there, this corruption of the game and sport in general.

The owners at Chelsea, Barca, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, PSG, and now Manchester City have proven that they are willing to break the rules (cheat) to gain an advantage just to stay competitive.

This is why their trophy (haul) hall is tarnished and ultimately means less, than those clubs who play by the rules and build their teams with hard work, patience, and a firm resolve not to cut corners…or outright cheat.

Make no mistake, all these clubs had to be in agreement to the rules that were put in place by FIFA and UEFA. They all signed on to play by the rules.

So once again, for Liverpool, that is why ‘this means more’.
