Liverpool and Manchester City want Diego Carlos.

The 27-year-old Brazilian has a release clause of £68 million in his contract and that has already the Reds and City to his availability.

Sean Lunt, writing in Sport Witness, said that Sevilla are open to selling some of their most in-demand stars in order to make as much money as possible.

Digeo Carlos would definitely full under that bracket.

He only signed for the Spanish side last summer, who would be pulling off the ultimate hit and run if they can triple their money on the defender in less than 12 months.

City have been credited with interest in the right-footer and they are due a defensive clearout following the conclusion of the Premier League, although beating Liverpool to the deal is another kettle of fish entirely.

If Dejan Lovren departs for Zenit St. Petersberg, then Jurgen Klopp will definitely have space in his squad for another defender. That transfer fee would put pressure on Joe Gomez and Joel Matip to up their game, and would provide additional cover if either of the pair got injured.

City’s long-term issues stem from their inability to find cover for the left-sided central defensive position, so Diego Carlos maybe isn’t the right target for them.

He has played 35 times in La Liga this season and has become a key part of the Sevilla squad with over 3,000 minutes on the field.

However, they have always been a selling side and the Sports Witness report used a newspaper article from Spanish publication Marca to highlight that point.

Would Liverpool really go for him? There have already been rumours about other big money deals in the pipeline and the club wouldn’t be able to afford two.

Should the club sell Dejan Lovren and sign Carlos? Would he even improve the squad that much? Let us know in the comments below.
