Kostas Tsimikas signs for Liverpool – who’s next?
Liverpool have signed Kostas Tsimikas from Olympiacos.
The 24-year-old left-back passed a medical, put on the kit and signed on the dotted line. It’s the first signing of the summer for the Reds in the most strange transfer window, the likes of which I hope we never see again.
Liverpool welcomed the new arrival with the a brand new Nike kit and boot, before Tsimikas inked his deal. Details of the contract vary depending on which source you read, but there does seem to be a 20% sell-on clause to Olympiacos.
FIFA21 has given Kostas a 78/100 rating which is very similar to where Andy Robertson scored when he came over from Hull.
According to FIFA21 analytics, Tsimikas is fourth highest in speed quotient, scoring 93, of all Liverpool players. So expect him to have a big burst of speed down the flank.
Jurgen Klopp has said he likes the lad’s mentality, and that’s enough of a nod for me.
"“He is a very good footballer with an attitude to win and to compete, and I really like his mentality. It fits perfectly with the mood and the desire we have in our dressing room already.”"
This is good for Liverpool, good for the team, and good for Andy Robertson. Not to say he needs any prodding to put out his best game on the pitch, but with the arrival of a hungry player of Tsimikas’s quality, Robbo will push himself accordingly.

The same can be said for young Neco Williams as cover at right-back. He too will be keen to impress accordingly on big his opportunity and he has earned a look due to his performances in the summer restart.
This has to ease the minds of Jurgen Klopp and Pep Lijnders about sufficient cover at full-back. Now they can concentrate on the centre-back hole left after Dejan Lovern’s departure.
Real Betis man Aissa Mandi is still a strong candidate, if money and contract details can be ironed out.
If this young defender could be signed for £20m or thereabouts, this would be considered another coup for sporting director Michael Edwards and the transfer committee.
Here’s a big hearty welcome to the quick, sure footed Kostas to Liverpool, where ‘this means more’.
To a long and prosperous career with the Reds.
