Liverpool could solve their goalkeeping woes with an astute signing.

Adrian’s future at Liverpool was signed, sealed and delivered in the recent defeat to Aston Villa. The Spanish goalkeeper clearly has no long term place at Anfield.

However, the Reds’ hands are rather tied when it comes to immediately replacing their veteran goalkeeper.

There is some solace in the notion that Jurgen Klopp and Michael Edwards could possibly drum together a deal from the Championship.

England’s second tier might not be the most lucrative and alluring option for the fans, however, there are plenty of hidden gems who have broken through to the Premier League in recent years.

In fact, Ollie Watkins himself came from the division to Aston Villa this summer.

There are plenty of astute options for the Reds to chose from in the Championship but perhaps none are better than Stoke City’s Jack Butland.

According to former England international Paul Robinson who spoke to Football Insider, Liverpool should consider making a move for Butland in the window.

With still just a little less than two weeks to go, Liverpool have plenty of time to put together a deal.

Butland who has a plethora of experience in both the first and second tier of English football was considered to be one of England’s brightest goalkeepers. However after Stoke City’s relegation from the Premier League the goalkeeper has fallen down the radar and from Gareth Southgate’s pecking order.

Nonetheless, when in form Butland has excelled in both the Premier League and the Championship, and the 27 year old could be a far more reliable option than Adrian.

A few years ago Butland was linked with a move to the Reds as a potentially first choice option and as the common adage goes in football; class is permanent, form is temporary.
