Liverpool could finally sign their ideal Adrian replacement.

Ever since Liverpool’s abysmal performance against Aston Villa the topic of conversation has centred around the club’s current goalkeeper predicament. The Reds are without an adequate back-up for their first choice keeper and with Alisson Becker set to be out for a considerable period that could put Jurgen Klopp and his men under major scrutiny.

It is clear Klopp can no longer rely on Adrian as a back-up option. The Spaniard has made too many mistakes in games of huge significance to Liverpool over the past few seasons.

The Spanish veteran just cannot be relied on. He is neither good with his feet or when it comes to his decision making.

The Reds need someone more reliable and sturdy.

Jack Butland might not be a name which would fill the supporters with much optimism. However the 27 year old has been highly regarded for some time now.

And Klopp have been given a huge boost in his purported pursuit of the Stoke City keeper with the Football Insider via Stoke Sentinel claiming the Potters are willing to part ways with Butland by the end of the week.

The latest reports seems to suggest the club are moving closer to completing a move for their ideal target.

With the international window shut, Liverpool’s options are scarce. The Championship isn’t full of the best goalkeepers but Butland would surely be a better and more reliable option than Adrian?

An England international, it was only a few years ago that Butland was tipped to become England’s number one choice at senior level.

He has a plethora of experience in the Premier League having played two full seasons and he is capable of playing with his feet too.

The Reds have kept him on their radar for some time now. Brendan Rodgers tried to sign Jack Butland back under his reign with the club in 2014.

Perhaps it’s finally time to make a move for England international. Liverpool could do far worse.

One thing for sure, the Reds’ time is ticking. The club needs to make a move quickly with the Merseyside derby only around the corner.
