Liverpool have found their perfect Roberto Firmino replacement
By Bence Bocsak
Liverpool could finally have the right back-up for Firmino.
Liverpool’s Brazilian maestro has gotten a lot of slack recently. The club’s false number nine’s goal record in the past year has been far from what you expect from a traditional number nine. However, Firmino’s work-rate and pressing often goes unnoticed and overlooked despite how integral it is to Jurgen Klopp’s system.
Nonetheless, the Reds simply cannot solely rely on Roberto Firmino to occupy the false number nine position. While the addition of Takumi Minamino was intended to alleviate the pressure heaved on the Brazilian’s shoulders, the Japanese attacker is clearly better when deployed in an attacking midfield role.
That leaves Liverpool still desperately relying on Roberto Firmino. However, that could all change soon.

The club might have let their best attacking talent go to Sheffield United in Rhian Brewster this summer, but it seems a better talent has already emerged at Kirkby.
Kopites might not be aware of Layton Stewart’s name, they soon will be however if the 18 year old forward continues his incredible form.
The U18 striker has 6 goals in 3 games for the club’s U18 side. He netted 18 times in 23 appearances at academy level last season too which a mighty record.
But what’s most impressive about Layton Stewart is just how seamlessly his attributes could fit into Jurgen Klopp’s current system.
The 18 year old likes to operate in the false number nine role. Stewart’s pressing has been really impressive since the beginning of the season. The young forward likes to close down his opponents quickly and he has a knack for winning the ball in dangerous position’s on the field, much like Roberto Firmino.
More crucially, Layton Stewart is also deadly in front of goal. With the games coming thick and fast for Liverpool and Firmino continuing to be out of form, Jurgen Klopp could easily give Layton Stewart a chance in the first team.
The German wasn’t shy to do the same with Alexander-Arnold or Curtis Jones, Stewart could be the latest to follow suit.
And if he can excel just as well in the first team as he has done at academy level Liverpool might have a huge gem on their hands.
Just as a reference, Stewart has a similar record to Mason Greenwood at academy level.
Do you think Liverpool should give Layton Stewart a chance in the first team?
