Liverpool have been tipped to make a major signing.

It’s a dream which has been ingrained in the minds of many. A titillating concept which paradoxically seems so intangible yet so eerily close. The mere notion of it ever occurring would evoke unfathomable feelings around Liverpool and Anfield.

The arrival of Thiago Alcantara this summer sent jubilant scenes around social media. It was the kind of transfer which meant something. The heralding of a new age of ruthlessness by FSG and Jurgen Klopp.

Thiago after all was one of the outstanding players of last season’s Champions League. In the final he was dominant, dictating the midfield and ensuring Bayern pulled off a victory against Paris Saint Germain.

Thiago is the kind of player Liverpool wouldn’t have even sniffed at in previous years. But now with some tough negotiations, Michael Edwards secured the dreamy transfer and the Spanish international hoisted his red, white and green Liverpool top in the air with a thinly veiled grin.

‘How are we?’

The three words have become indelible since.

The Reds supporters are feeling rather good.

But next summer they could be feeling even better.

BBC Sport released a video speculating where Kylian Mbappe will sign after Paris Saint Germain, and in the video, the English media outlet backed Jurgen Klopp to secure the exciting Frenchman’s signature.

With insight from various journalists, the report is a hugely exciting one for Reds supporters.

The Anfield based club have courted Kylian Mbappe from when he was just 16 years of age.

Mbappe himself has flirted with the club in the past which gives further hope that a deal could be secured.

With Kylian Mbappe yet to sign a contract extension at PSG he would only have a year remaining in his current deal next summer. That could give Michael Edwards some leverage to pull of a seemingly impossible fee.

FSG have been solid in their investment of the club so far. They understand the need to spend and the marketing potential of a player like Kylian Mbappe. Thiago’s transfer was proof FSG are not afraid to change their attitude.

With all that in mind, Jurgen Klopp might just pull off one of the best signings of the decade.
