Thiago is the kind of player Liverpool wouldn’t have even sniffed at in previous years. But now with some tough negotiations, Michael Edwards secured the dreamy transfer and the Spanish international hoisted his red, white and green Liverpool top in the air with a thinly veiled grin.

Mbappe himself has flirted with the club in the past which gives further hope that a deal could be secured.

With Kylian Mbappe yet to sign a contract extension at PSG he would only have a year remaining in his current deal next summer. That could give Michael Edwards some leverage to pull of a seemingly impossible fee.

FSG have been solid in their investment of the club so far. They understand the need to spend and the marketing potential of a player like Kylian Mbappe. Thiago’s transfer was proof FSG are not afraid to change their attitude.

With all that in mind, Jurgen Klopp might just pull off one of the best signings of the decade.
