In Sporting they might have the answer in a 17 year old sensation.
Joelson Fernandes burst onto the scene last season and he evoked memories of Cristiano Ronaldo. His style of play is eerily reminiscent of the former Sporting graduate.
Joelson Fernandes has the same swagger about him as Cristiano Ronaldo and the same dribbling technique. Joelson Fernandes has the ability to bamboozle his opponents just like Cristiano Ronaldo did in his heyday.
Infamously the club missed out on Cristiano Ronaldo’s transfer prior to his arrival at Manchester United. However in Joelson Fernandes’ case it seems the Reds are being more proactive.
According to Joelson Fernandes’ agent speaking to Jornal O Democrata e Mídia via TeamTalk, Liverpool were among a number of clubs who held talks with Sporting over his client in the summer and the Reds even made a bid.
Ultimately Joelson Fernandes opted to stay with the Portugal outfit.
However, with Sadio Mane and Mohammed Salah not getting older, one will have to assume Liverpool’s interest will remain in the Portuguese teenage sensation.
The Reds will no doubt keep a close eye on Joelson Fernandes and they might pounce as soon as they get their chance.
Joelson Fernandes’ arrival could open up the possibility of the club having to Portuguese stars on the wing and a partnership with Diogo Jota.
One thing for sure, the Reds will not want to make the same mistake as they did with Cristiano Ronaldo and rue their decision once more.
