Liverpool are looking to sign this world-class defender.
There are moments which could be monumental in a club’s history. The arrival of Virgil Van Dijk at Anfield was one such occasion in Liverpool’s recent history.
The Dutchman steadied a previously leaking defence. His aerial presence and commanding figure at the back made the Reds the finished article so to say.
With Van Dijk at the back, you hardly had to worry, the Dutchman would almost always clear things up in the end and thwart the opposition’s attacks.

Now the club will have to succumb to feelings of angst every time the opposition runs up to attack. Without Van Dijk at the back for a prolonged period, the Reds’ defence will be asked a plethora of questions marks.
While Fabinho has done well to steady the ship so far, it’s clear Liverpool need to add more steel to their defence.
They need someone of Van Dijk’s towering presence to deter the opposition’s front line and command the aerial battles that are there to be won.
And it seems the club could be on the brink of doing just that.
According to Italian journalist Fabio Santini via Sports Mole, the Reds have made a £65m bid for Kalidou Koulibaly of Napoli.
If Santini is right, that could be a major deal for the club. Kalidou Koulibaly is regarded as a world-class defender and one of the best in the world.
He was instrumental in thwarting the Reds’ attack on numerous occasions in the Champions League a few seasons ago.
He is strong, powerful and dominant in the air. He has the pace too to beat his opponents and to make him an impenetrable wall.
At 29 years of age he is the finished article. Kalidou Koulibaly and Van Dijk at the back when the Dutchman recovers from his injury could be a frightening prospect for attackers around the world. In the intermediary period, Kalidou Koulibaly would be the perfect deputy for Van Dijk.
Kalidou Koulibaly’s international team mate Sadio Mane would also surely welcome the move and it could be another blossoming friendship at the club.
Do you think Kalidou Koulibaly is the right option for Liverpool?
