There are rumours the Premier League might change the homegrown quota and bringing in players from Europe will be more of an arduous process.
And according to the Daily Mirror the Reds are looking to add another Englishman into their squad.
The report via Four Four Two claims that Jurgen Klopp is willing to fork out as much as £50m for Marcelo Bielsa’s favourite midfielder at Leeds United, Kalvin Phillips.
The recent England international has impressed since coming to the Premier League and has proved himself worthy of the hype.
He has settled into his role in England senior side astutely too.
A strong-tackler with perpetual energy and the technique to instigate attacks, Kalvin Phillips is the perfect modern day midfielder.
While competition in midfield is fierce at the club, with Wijnaldum potentially leaving the Reds next summer, Jurgen Klopp will have to consider his options and he will have to reinforce the squad.
Kalvin Phillips seems like an ideal Klopp player. He likes to press, he is adept at both defending and attacking and he has the right mindset too. Throughout his time at Leeds, Kalvin Phillips has had to deal with numerous set-back but he has always fought through it and persevered.
That fighter mentality is exactly what Klopp loves to have in his mentality monsters.
Kalvin Phillips might be an expensive purchase at £50m however, it might be a worthy sacrifice to make.
