The Liverpool legend has revealed his future intentions.

His name is indelible when it comes to Liverpool Football Club. Steven Gerrard is synonymous with the Reds. He was captain fantastic. The man who saved the club in its darkest of ordeals. The boy with the golden touch who could help the team fight through the storm and who never walked alone.

In his absence, Liverpool struggled without him initially, it took the club some time to build up a new bastion of invincibility.

But Gerrard has ventured away from the club too. Currently it is the fans of Rangers who sing and worship his name, meanwhile in Merseyside not much is spoken about the club legend.

Steven Gerrard has thrived in his role as manager of Rangers in recent times. He has defeated some big clubs in the Europa League, won another Old Firm Derby and currently leads the Scottish League.

For the first time in a decade, Rangers actually look like they could feasible topple Celtic’s hegemony and much of that has been thanks to the mentality Steven Gerrard has instilled in his players and the tactics he has implemented.

Steven Gerrard learnt a lot from Jurgen Klopp despite not playing under him. The Reds’ former captain likes to deploy the same high intensity football and the quick transitions going forward. His team presses in the same way as Klopp’s sides do.

Naturally, Steven Gerrard is thus being regarded as the German’s successor at Anfield.

After all, the club remains ingrained in Gerrard’s mind and heart. He still mentions the Reds on a regular basis in his press conferences.

Steven Gerrard of course began his managerial career at the club too. He commandeered the Reds’ U18 side before moving onto pastures new.

That experience was crucial for Gerrard. He had the experience of working with some of the club’s most exciting players including Curtis Jones who is often compared to the club’s former legend.

However, while Steven Gerrard’s return to Anfield as manager seems like it is written in the stars, it seems like Gerrard might not be as convinced.

Speaking on the High Performance Podcast via the Daily Express, Gerrard revealed he could quit football entirely in the future.

This is what the former Liverpool captain said in full.

"“But there will be a stage in my life where I have to give it up for the sake of my family and for myself, to cut it and live life with a bit of peace.I think there’s got to be a stage in your life where you have a calm and peace but I don’t feel ready for that. I do still feel full of energy, I do think I can help players, I do see opportunities to have more highs and buzzes and adrenaline rushes.I also see things I want to achieve, so I’m not ready for that now. But for Alex and the kids at some stage, I will have to give myself to them 100%. When that is, who knows.”"

His comments have to be taken with a pinch of salt, but it certainly doesn’t look like Gerrard will be staying in the game for too long. Especially as his kids continue to grow .
