This sporting director has given Liverpool a huge boost.
On the hallowed turf at Anfield, he came and he struck lightning. He wilted Liverpool’s boldest defenders and made the famed ground quake in his wake. The venomous forward was ruthless. He knew where to find the net and he showed no mercy. They tried to stop him but it was to no avail.
Erling Braut Haaland demonstrated his sheer brilliance to Jurgen Klopp almost a year ago in Red Bull Salzburg’s colours when he netted a goal coming off the bench to herald what was almost a Red Bull Salzburg come-back. And it seemed to leave a mark on the club’s German coach.
The Norwegian has improved heaps and bounds since then and is now regarded as one of the best forwards in the world.

His record of 24 goals in 27 games for Borussia Dortmund is truly remarkable and one which has made some of the world’s finest defenders dread at the prospect of facing Erling Haaland.
He is a cool and collected figure on the pitch, but with a deadly edge. His pace makes him electric and his hunger for goals makes him unstoppable.
Speaking to First Time Finish John Vik, the scout who ‘discovered’ Erling Haaland in Norway echoed this sentiment: ‘He has a head that is different than other boys, he is so unafraid,’ Vik described the Norwegian forward.
The Norwegian scout also revealed to First Time Finish how English clubs rejected Haaland back when the Norwegian striker was just 16 years old for simply being ‘a target man.’
"‘I didn’t want to sell him but I spoke to a lot of top English clubs during the national team games and I told them to keep an eye on him and they said; no, he’s just a target man, nothing special . So we didn’t have competition from abroad.’"
Perhaps, Liverpool might have been one of the teams who turned their eyes from Erling Haaland?
Nonetheless, the past is the past and the fact of the matter is that the Reds could very well lure the Borussia Dortmund forward to Anfield. Jurgen Klopp is clearly a big admirer and the feeling is seemingly mutual.
Erling Haaland’s former sporting director at Red Bull Salzburg, Christoph Freund speaking to Sky90 via This is Anfield revealed that he believes, Erling Haaland ‘will land’ at Liverpool.
The Norwegian who described Anfield and the club’s fans as a ‘dream’ via the Daily Mirror last year is clearly an admirer of the club.
With Roberto Firmino not getting any older or prolific, the Reds might look to rejuvenate their attack in the coming years.
Perhaps that will be when Jurgen Klopp will pounce for the bulky Norwegian.
Erling Haaland would be a dream signing for the club.
