Michael Edwards’ landed deemed by many as the signing of the summer when he lured Thiago Alcantara to Anfield from Champions League winners, Bayern Munich, and the Reds’ chief could be about to repeat his incredible feat.
According to the Football Insider Liverpool are interested in signing David Alaba from Bayern Munich as well and have been told they could land him for the bargain price of just ‘£30m.’
That would be another major coup from Michael Edwards for a player who is highly regarded in world football.
Pep Guardiola famously described David Alaba as ‘god’ and was a huge admirer of the Austrian during their time together at Munich. Therefore if the Reds managed to lure David Alaba to the club it could further ignite the rivalry between City and Liverpool.
Not only that, with David Alaba proficient in the centre-back role, the Reds would be acquiring a player of huge quality in an area where Jurgen Klopp is short of options at the moment.
Alaba’s versatility could also make him the perfect replacement for James Milner. Just like the veteran midfielder, David Alaba is capable of playing as a full-back and in midfield as well.
David Alaba has the pace and the technique which could make him thrive under Jurgen Klopp and at 28 years of age he still has plenty of seasons left at the pinnacle of the game.
Landing David Alaba would be another huge statement of intent by the club and one which could help them to an incredible treble while also filling the void left behind by Virgil Van Dijk.
For £30m, the deal is a no brainer.
