Liverpool have been given an update.

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool squad is fragile. You would have struggled to believe that at the start of the season, but as the injuries piled on the squad has gotten thinner and thinner. Amidst the pandemic with the heavy fixture congestion, the Reds’ players are dropping like flies and it is not even halfway through the season.

There is much more to come.

It is why, the German manager must assess all his options and could look to invest further in a squad already arrayed with super talent.

More from Rush The Kop

Diogo Jota has been a strong addition to the frontline but with the club’s two other deputies Divock Origi and Takumi Minamino misfiring, Klopp may look to add another young star to his team.

One candidate who has been linked with the Reds in the past is Samuel Chukwueze.

The 21 year old Nigerian winger is blessed with the rapid pace that Jurgen Klopp looks for in his attackers.

Chukwueze is able to play on both flanks which makes him an amicable asset too.

Despite his tender age he has already played almost 100 games for Villareal and has 25 goal contributions.

Regarded as one of La Liga’s brightest prospects, his current manager at Villareal, Unai Emery, has responded to the plethora of interest in Samuel Chukwueze and has hinted what the Nigerian future could entail.

Speaking to All Nigeria Soccer via the Liverpool Echo Unai Emery said the following:

"“He is young and he has a very good future and then trying to add his performances for our team, for the national team.“Maybe in the future he can go to another league to grow up more but I think he’s very happy here with us, and every match with him is very important to try to get best performance with him.”"

It certainly seems like based on those remarks that Villareal are already settled on having to sell Samuel Chukwueze in the future.

Maybe a January move might come too soon, but with the Reds purported interest the 21 year old is definitely one to keep an eye on.

Samuel Chukwueze player with the same explosive directness as Sadio Mane and with the same infectious enthusiasm. If he adds more of a finishing touch to his game he could become an excellent candidate to fill the void potentially left behind the the Reds’ Senegalese superstar.

What do you think, is Samuel Chukwueze the right candidate to replace Sadio Mane at the club in the future?
