The nature of football is cruel. There are only a few years where a player can remain at the top of their game and so a manager must always refresh and change his squad.

Without a shadow of a doubt, one of the beating heart of Jurgen Klopp’s current Reds line up has been Sadio Mane. The Senegalese winger glides past players with ease and his explosive style has often come up trumps for the Reds.

He is perhaps a little less appreciated than Mohamed Salah, but equally as key to the dynamics of the club.

However with Sadio Mane nearing his thirties, the club are already pursuing a potential heir to his throne.

This summer Jeremy Doku was heavily linked with the Reds. A rapid and explosive winger very much in the Sadio Mane mould, Jeremy Doku seems like the right fit for the club.

However, in the summer Jeremy Doku decided to move to France and Rennes from his home town club Anderlecht.

Nonetheless according to the latest reports that has not deterred the Reds.

Acccording to Het Laatste Nieuws via Sport Witness, Jeremy Doku ‘still appeals’ to the Reds and the club could make a move for him in the future.

Could the rampant Jeremy Doku become the long term replacement for Sadio Mane?

Only time will tell, but the portents are looking good.
