The Liverpool boss could have a real gem.

He runs through thickets of defenders. Mesmerises them, bamboozling their eyes with his trickery and guile. He is the ultimate footballer. With his diminutive height and low centre of gravity he can manipulate the ball in any way he wishes. Lionel Messi is a legend of the game and he will be forever remembered as one of the all time greats. In Liverpool, it seems like his heir is brewing.

Jurgen Klopp has notably made some astute signings since his arrival at Anfield, but his greatest masterstroke could still yet to be unveiled.

In the summer of 2019, many eyes were batted at the club’s lack of activity in the transfer window.

The arrival of Harvey Elliott went somewhat under the radar. Just 16 at the time, the quick footed winger showed his class in rare glimpses for the first team during pre-season and then later in his sporadic appearances for the club notably in the League Cup.

This season as a way to continue his development, the 17 year old was sent on loan in the Championship to Blackburn Rovers.

In a tough new environment, with intense physical battles, any 17 year old would be expected to struggle, but not Harvey Elliott.

Harvey Elliott has lit up the Championship with his twinkle toes.

The Chertsey born winger has 6 goal contributions in 11 games for the club, including a stunning strike midweek which showed maturity beyond his years and was more proof of his tremendous potential.

Harvey Elliott’s incredible performances have sent fans into a frenzy.

As the Liverpool Echo reports, many have gone as far as dubbing him the ‘English Messi’ which is high praise indeed.

And it might not even be that far-fetched.

Harvey Elliott certainly shows flashes of Lionel Messi in terms of his style of play.

If he continues his upward trajectory in terms of development, Harvey Elliott has every chance to ascend right to the very top of the game.

At Liverpool he is at the best place to kick on as well. With impressive displays in the Championship he has definitely caught Jurgen Klopp’s eye and will be looking to fight himself into first team reckoning next season.

How good can Harvey Elliott become?
