Liverpool could introduce some exciting talent.

Liverpool’s academy has flourished in recent weeks. The excellence of Kelleher on both his Champions League and Premier League debut. The emergence of Curtis Jones as a first team regular and a clutch player. As well as him and Neco Williams single-handedly helping the Reds advance to the knock-out round of the Champions League.

The club’s excellent performances have ensured that they go into their last group-stage game with their fate already sealed. Despite the result against Midtjylland the club are guaranteed to finish top of their group and so in typical Jurgen Klopp fashion the German might use the game as an avenue to give some of Liverpool’s exciting talent a taste of first team football.

Undoubtedly Caoimhin Kelleher is likely to keep his place in goal. Meanwhile in defence, there could be a debut handed to Billy Koumetio.

The French centre-back was involved in the club’s brief pre-season preparations in the summer and is highly rated by Jurgen Klopp. Alongside him Rhys Williams is surely another certainty to start and the 19 year old will be hoping to continue his impressive form.

At full-back Tsimikas and perhaps Neco Williams will get the nod.

The midfield could see a lot of new faces. With Keita only just returning, he might be involved but Henderson, Wijnaldum and even Curtis Jones could get a rest due to the vast amount of midfielders still on the side-lines for the club.

That could hand the opportunity for players like Jake Cain and Leighton Clarkson given a chance to impress. The two have been involved in matchday squads this season and they may make their bows in the Champions League on Wednesday.

James Balagizi who has been a bright spark for the club’s U18 side may also have an outside chance to be involved.

The front three will likely involve both Divock Origi and Takumi Minamino, but the third player could be someone from the club’s academy.

The best candidate for the job is Layton Stewart. The prolific 18 year old has 13 goals in 10 matches for the club this season at academy level and it is only a matter of time until he edges closer to a first team debut.

Knowing Klopp, the German might be bold enough to play a whole plethora of youngsters and there will be plenty of players to keep an eye on.
