Liverpool fans are struggling to see a way back.

The Reds could only draw with Scott Parker’s struggling Fulham side in a performance that was fairly underwhelming.

Bobby Reid opened the scoring for the London side before Mohamed Salah pulled one back with a well-taken penalty.

Discussions about injuries have dominated social media and the press and they aren’t going to go away anytime soon – especially not with the latest news to come out of the club.

Diogo Jota, Kostas Tsimikas and Naby Keita are the latest to be added to the butcher’s bill – but that has given some of the younger squad members some time to shine.

One of those players is Curtis Jones. The 19-year-old made his seventh Premier League appearance of the season on Sunday and is starting to play with an exciting level of maturity.

Jones has always had the raw talent, but the Scouser is starting to prove that he’s got the tactical nouse and awareness to do what Jurgen Klopp wants.

That, combined with his physical stamina, means that some Liverpool fans are worried for the future of one of his senior teammates.

Keita has struggled to stay in the side for any length of time and is currently out injured, and given Jones’s high level of performance, there’s no guarantee Keita will get back in it.

We’ve seen Klopp pick his teams based on ability and form rather than reputation. It’s what led Trent Alexander-Arnold to get his big break, and the same could be said for Andy Robertson.

If Jones is doing everything he’s been asked to, continues to play well and stays fit, then it could be a very long road back to the first team for Keita.

However, the Guniea international may have luck on his side. If Joel Matip’s back spasm keeps him out of the side for any length of time, we may see Jordan Henderson drop back into defence and that will give Keita a way into the side.
