Liverpool are going to be busy in January.

Liverpool are embroiled in a crisis. Jurgen Klopp and his men have been wracked with one injury after another. The list continues to pile on.

January could not have come at a better time for the Reds. With endless possibilities, the club has the opportunity to amend their frailties and ensure they do not succumb to another injury crisis in the future.

There have been a plethora of names being linked with the club, and yet another new name has surfaced.

More from Rush The Kop

According to FCInterNews via the Daily Express the Reds have contacted Inter Milan about the possibility of signing Virgil Van Dijk’s international teammate Stefan de Vrij.

The experienced 28 year old defender has been a stalwart figure at the back for Inter Milan this season.

He’s also played alongside Van Dijk on numerous occasions for the Dutch national team.

A steady and calm head with the ability to remain composed on the ball, Stefan de Vrij would certainly suit the Reds style of play.

In an injury crisis where Klopp has been forced to feature young players from the club’s academy, Stefan de Vrij’s presence could be invaluable.

Especially with the club looking to compete on all fronts.

Stefan de Vrij’s name will not be entirely unfamiliar to the club’s supporters. Some may recall Brendan Rodgers also being interested in the Dutchman whilst de Vrij was still plying his trade in his homeland.

But Stefan de Vrij moved to Lazio instead before moving to Inter in 2018 where he has established himself as a reliable defender and one of the best in the Serie A.

Having him even as a fourth choice back-up would be the perfect replacement for the departed Dejan Lovren.

If the club can pull of the signing on the cheap, it could be an astute investment.

Would you be happy with Stefan de Vrij?
