Liverpool have their very own Grealish.

When Liverpool travel to Aston Villa tonight much of the talk will be marred by the current outbreak in the Reds’ opposition squad. An even many Reds supporters will regard as karma for last year’s debacle against the team from the midlands in the League Cup where the club were forced to field their academy.

Now Klopp and his men have the chance to avenge the 5-0 defeat and the even more embarrassing 7-2 drubbing earlier this season.

One Aston Villa star who has been heavily linked with a move to the Reds as well as various other Premier League teams is Jack Grealish.

The Aston Villa captain is unlikely to feature tonight, but speculations will continue about his future destination and whether that destination might be Anfield.

But while Grealish’s is a superb talent, and one who will do well wherever he goes. There is a new consensus among fans and pundits that the Reds already have a young player in that role which should deter the club from making a move for Grealish.

That man is Curtis Jones.

Speaking on the Wrighty House Podcast via the Focus Ian Wright has tipped Jones to go far in the game and drew comparisons with Jack Grealish.

"“He could go to the Euros. I’m not saying he’s Jack Grealish but he can play in that role, where he’s in advance of the midfield, see a pass and get into the box.“He’s got everything. He could be easily a surprise addition (to England’s squad for the Euros).”"

Curtis Jones is still extremely young, at 19 years of age he is 6 years behind Jack Grealish but has already shown flickers of his potential.

An excellent display against Tottenham and Ajax has shown he is ready for first team action.

While he has been slightly off it in some games since then, that’s also partially down to the whole team not performing and at 19 Curtis Jones does not deserve the blame.

In time, as he polishes his game and continues to hone his skills, the consistency will come with Curtis Jones’ performances.

Against Aston Villa Jones will have the opportunity to get himself out of a rut and show the fans just why he is so highly rated.
