Liverpool player ratings – forwards

Right-wing: Mo Salah – 6/10

Despite scoring, Salah put in yet another below-par performance in a barren spell for the Egyptian at the moment.

He took his goal very well though, and hopefully, we can see a deja-vu at home against Manchester United next weekend.

More from Rush The Kop

It’s time for Mo to get back to his very best – and we need it.

Left-wing: Sadio Mane – 8/10

Liverpool’s best starter on the night, from minute one Mane looked a threat- as he usually does.

Despite being quite wasteful with some opportunities, his two goals were pivotal in Liverpool’s victory tonight.

The first, a bullet header from a delightful Curtis Jones cross to put the Reds ahead. The second, another header – this time a looped one over the Hungarian ‘keeper to extend Liverpool’s lead.

Striker: Takumi Minamino – 6.5/10

Another assist for Minamino tonight. The Japanese international, when he plays, consistently gets involved not only with goal contributions but with upping the tempo.

Despite his somewhat anonymity in the first half, he burst into life before being replaced by Roberto Firmino.

He should play a role next time, and a lot more for Liverpool than what he does at the moment. Taki time is a saying we should get used to.

Substitutes:

Thiago Alcantara – 9/10 – Special word for the Spaniard – completely changed the game. MOTM.

Roberto Firmino – 7/10 – a class above. Liverpool instantly looked more fluid on his arrival.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain – 5.5/10 – didn’t really do much. Not his best night.

Xherdan Shaqiri – 8/10 – Two assists for big Shaq, and thrown his name into the United hat!
