Liverpool have completed a transfer.
It’s been a much slower January window than normal. COVID has stripped the bottom out of the market and that’s impacted sides across Europe and in England.
We’ve heard Jurgen Klopp say time and time again that they won’t do any business in this window, and the rest of the league seems to be falling into line on that issue.
Nobody has been signed for big money. The majority of deals have been loans or, in West Ham’s case, a big-money striker departing for the Eredivisie for half the price the Hammers paid.
At the other end of the scale, we have Robert Snodgrass, who West Brom signed for £99,000 from West Ham.
Clubs are keeping their powder dry as the sheer, brute force economic of the pandemic have hit home. Liverpool have done a few loan deals, but that’s been the extent of their business.
Fans would love to see Klopp welcome a new central defender through the door, and have been credited with an interest in one Serie A player.
Scouting departments have been working hard, too, as replacements for current squad players are being sourced around the clock.

Liverpool have completed a deal, except it might not be one that fans are too excited about, and that’s because it’s a departure not an arrival.
Adam Lewis is a handy left-back who was on loan with French Ligue 2 side Amiens during the first half of the season but has seen his time on the continent cut short and a move to Plymouth Argyle arranged instead.
Lewis played just nine times in France and will hope to feature more heavily for Plymouth, who are currently 15th in League One.
For much of last season, we expected Lewis to play some role in the first-team as back up to Andy Robertson. This move, or these moves, are hoped to give the 21-year-old the experience he needs to come back and have an impact with the squad.
However, the arrival of Kostas Tsimikas will have put paid to most of those hopes.
