When you examine the underlying causes behind Liverpool’s impotence in front of goal in recent weeks, it’s easy to blame the club’s penchant tendency for crosses or the deeper and deeper defensive low-blocks.

Not to mention the worrying poor performances of the club’s usually terrific front three.

There are a plethora of factors causing the Reds recent stunt. But perhaps one that is hardly ever discussed is the lack of creative flair in the midfield.

Thiago Alcantara’s recent arrival has alleviated some of those problems, and while the Spanish midfielder is exemplary at threading penetrative passes into the box, in defensive low-blocks sometimes even that is not enough.

Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp have a problem.

Klopp needs a player with creative flair who can also drive into the box. Someone like Curtis Jones but more mature and less prone to make errors.

And according to the latest reports, the Reds could be on the verge of making an acquisition of a player who offers exactly that.

According to the ever reliable Fabrizio Romano the Reds are have ‘scouted’ Udinese midfielder Rodrigo de Paul.

As reported by First Time Finish‘s brilliant analysis, Rodrigo de Paul has hugely impressive numbers in the Serie A this season and some are simply mind boggling.

The Argentinian midfielder could be the key to solving the Reds’ lack of creativity in midfield.

He could also be an excellent replacement for Georginio Wijnaldum who is set to depart in the summer.

Last January, the Reds rivals Man United made a transformative signings by bringing in Bruno Fernandes from Sporting Lisbon.

Klopp needs to do something similar in order to rejuvenate and inspire his squad.

Rodrigo de Paul could be exactly that.

The mere idea of a midfield three of Thiago, de Paul and Naby Keita is a mouth watering prospect and one even a low-defensive block would struggle to stifle.

Liverpool have often made astute signings in the past. Replacing players at the right moment, if they go ahead and pursue this deal, they might once again find the perfect solution to their problems.

With Leeds United also purportedly interested in the player, the Reds will need to act fast.

Would you be happy with the arrival of Rodrigo de Paul?
