Liverpool confirm another arrival after Davies and Kabak

It has been a hectic couple of days for Liverpool on transfer deadline day. The arrivals of Ozan Kabak and Ben Davies have significantly strengthened Jurgen Klopp’s side however one transfer has gone under the radar.

While there was a lot of talk late last night about the unexpected departure of Takumi Minamino. It was no the Japanese winger who was the biggest surprise of the night for the Reds when it came to transfer moves.

After having secured both Ben Davies and Ozan Kabak, Michael Edwards also secured the signature of a goalkeeper.

From Celtic of all places. The club who were purported to have agreed a deal with Ben Davies prior to the Reds swooping in and securing his signature.

Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp were busy in the transfer window.

Liam Hughes confirmed on his Instagram account via This is Anfield that he made the move from Glasgow to Liverpool.

The 19 year old goalkeeper is believed to be highly rated and he will join the club’s U23 development side who already boast a plethora of impressive shot-stoppers in Marcelo Pitaluga, Vitezslav Jaros and Fabian Mrozek.

Hughes has been capped at U21 level for Northern Ireland and he seems like a promising arrival.

The Reds certainly have competition for places. However with potentially Adrian being released from his contract in the near future, Liam Hughes might have the ability to bolster that department at senior level.

The young man clearly seemed delighted with his move to Anfield and having played for two giants of European football, he will be no stranger to the environment and atmosphere at the club.

It’s rarely ever happened that an academy goalkeeper fought his way into the starting eleven in recent years at Anfield.

The club’s most successful graduate Peter Gulacsi is a regular for RB Leipzig and is now regarded as one of the best in the world who will be facing Liverpool in the Champions League very soon. Caoimhin Kelleher has also done well as a deputy to Alisson and the Irish international could forge the path for others to follow.

Whether that will be Liam Hughes or another young goalkeeping talent, only time will tell.

One thing is for certain, supporters will be itching to see him in action.
