He arrived in a flash. Out of nowhere the Portuguese became one of Liverpool’s most expensive transfers. And he started with a bang. Overnight Diogo Jota became the fan favourite at Anfield.

Goals galore is what he brought. Pace, determination and energy. He revamped the Reds’ front three who have stuttered at times this season. Jota was the fresh new star who had the potency in front of goal and he was playing in the form of his life.

Yet as quickly as he arrived, his presence on the field dwindled at the same pace.

More from Rush The Kop

A devastating injury has seen Diogo Jota miss almost two months of action for the Reds during a key period for Jurgen Klopp’s men.

Liverpool need their new talisman back.

Jota’s absence have undeniably hurt the team. Against low-blocks, the Reds have struggled especially and they could have used the diminutive Portuguese’s nifty feet to get them out of trouble and bamboozle Premier League defences.

Alas it has not been the case.

Jota was purported to initially return at the end of January. However his recovery process has clearly taken slight stutter.

And while the Reds were handed positive news when images of Jota and Naby Keita were released doing individual training, it might be a while until the Kop’s new favourite returns to action.

Speaking after the Reds’ defeat to Brighton Jurgen Klopp was questioned about Diogo Jota’s imminent return.

And the German delivered a devastating blow to supporters.

Klopp said the following via the Daily Mirror.

"“Did I say that before the game? It hasn’t changed. Diogo, couple of weeks? Two, three, four?”"

The fact that the Liverpool boss is so reticent to put a precise time on Diogo Jota’s return suggests complications.

Or at least that things have not gone as smoothly as expected.

If Jota’s recovery ends up being another four weeks, that will only see him return in March and it could put a major dent in the Reds Champions League and Premier League endeavours.

Fans will be hoping it will not be the worst case scenario.

Of course it is also crucial to not rush Jota back in.

Going through the right recovery process is vital and fundamental in order to avoid any potential recurring problems.

One thing is for certain, Reds fans around the world will be praying and crossing their fingers Diogo Jota’s back to full fitness as soon as possible.
