Yes, Liverpool is in the middle of a rough patch. But that does not mean I am going to judge them during a season of turmoil, a crazy packed schedule and a worldwide pandemic. If you do that, you are being a tad bit naive!

Yes, the crisis cannot be overlooked at all. No excuses! But people have to spare a thought for what has been going on. These are the same players that won the Premier League and the Champions League not so long ago.

Virgil van Dijk was our best player by a long way. He’s a leader on and off the-pitch. His unavailability has hampered the team. They lack that added voice during the game, while also missing out on knowing that if they were beaten by a striker, the opponent still has to pass through Virgil to score.

Liverpool fans need to stay strong

Diogo Jota came and adapted to our style of play like a fish in water. When fit, he was our best attacker. His injury has also been a direct negative influence on on-field performances. He added freshness and ensured that Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino were on the toes as well. He rocked the comfort a little and his return should see us improve in front of goal.

Added to that, Jurgen Klopp was going through something personal. His mother was ailing and he was not able to spend her last few days with her. That is something we can’t discount. The man is a legend, let us learn to push him and the team on.

He has given us nothing but multiple amazing memories. He changed me from a doubter to a believer, I am not going to once again become a doubter because of a couple of rough months.

Liverpool can still take heart

More from Rush The Kop

No team in the world can do wonders with this situation, no team. We saw what happened to Manchester City with Aymeric Laporte out injured. They were 20 points behind us in January last season.

It isn’t about the hunger, take into account the mental and physical fatigue of the non injured players. Given the number of players injured the fit players have had to put in more gruelling shifts than usual – let alone time for a cool-off and rest before training sessions and the next game.

Adding to that, they have had to play out of positions and adapt to a new style of play in one of the toughest leagues in the world.

The situation seems worse off cause the media is blowing it out of proportion. They will do whatever they can, because we’re Liverpool, we are MASSIVE! But I am confident that we will overcome this mess and the dark days will be left behind us.

I have made peace with the fact that securing a top-four spot and pushing as high up as possible in the UEFA Champions League is now our main target. If we manage to finish above Manchester United, then I would take that as an added bonus.

Form is temporary, class is permanent. Boys, you might read this, or you might not, but remember YNWA!
