After another abysmal performance by Liverpool and yet more capitulation things are looking dire for Jurgen Klopp and the Reds. The Premier League title is well and truly gone but now top four is slipping away from their grasp.

Chances of making Europe’s elite competition are looking slimmer and slimmer with every match day.

The results could be catastrophic and it could trigger seismic changes from top to bottom at Anfield.

The financial ramifications will force the club’s hands and they will most likely have to sell one of their key stars in order to survive the turmoil.

Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp could be in big trouble.

That means Mohamed Salah could say his farewell at Anfield. With the Egyptian already rumoured to leave.

Without Champions League the Reds can kiss goodbye to players like Erling Haaland or Kylian Mbappe. A transfer  of that magnitude will not be feasible. Given the current financial climate even with top four it seems unlikely the Reds would embark on such an endeavour in the first place.

So who could come in?

Salah will most likely give the club the funds to invest and rebuild the squad.

The Reds will probably look for a centre-back, a creative midfielder, a striker and a back-up right-back.

All these roles are lacking depth at Anfield at the moment.

But rather than buying ready made players, Klopp will be forced into buying stars with potential.

These are some of the players he could target.

At centre-back there’s no reason to think Ozan Kabak might not be a good long-term transfer. The Turkish international had a solid debut despite the Alisson mishap.

For a creative midfielder, the club might look to target Raphinha of Leeds United but they could also stick with Harvey Elliott who is excelling at Blackburn at the moment.

Up-front Patson Daka who is a proclaimed Liverpool supporter could be a major coup and someone who could set the Premier League alight.

As for a back-up right back position someone like Ridle Baku of Wolfsburg might be an interesting candidate to look at.

Overall, not making the top four could come with advantages. It could give the Reds a youthful injection and quick-start an evidently necessary rebuild at Anfield.
