Another matchday, another loss for Liverpool.
The reigning champions imploded for a short period in the second half, and that cost them the game. Although Liverpool took the lead through a fine Mo Salah goal, it was all for nothing when the side made three consecutive errors in the space of seven minutes.
Jurgen Klopp’s men were considerably better today, dominating possession and also creating sufficient chances for themselves. We saw two changes to the starting XI, with Ozan Kabak coming in for the injured Fabinho, and Thiago dropping out for James Milner.
Liverpool player ratings
The Reds started the game with a positive outlook, and they were playing the most free-flowing football they have in recent times. Today’s game was significantly better than the games against Brighton, Burnley, and even Manchester City, but the result the same.
It all went wrong for Liverpool almost as soon as they took the lead. The side crumbled
Harvey Barnes was given a contentious freekick in the 73rd minute. A clumsy tackle from Thiago has originally adjudged a penalty, but VAR overturned Stuart Attwell’s on-field decision and awarded Leicester a freekick instead. James Maddison capitalised on the opportunity though, beating Alisson at his far-post.

Less than five minutes since the first goal, the Brazilian’s goal was compromised again, this time to his own doing. Youri Tielemans aimed to find Harvey Barnes with a long-ball, but Ozan Kabak looked set to take care of the pass.
This was until Alisson decided to rush towards the ball and clatter into Kabak rather than the ball. The two collided, and the ball fell the way of Jamie Vardy, who had an open goal ahead of him from where he made no mistake.
The third goal was a result of Mo Salah’s clumsiness in the middle of the field. The Egyptian lost the ball which Wilfred Ndidi exploited and played Barnes through on goal, who finished calmly.
Here are the player ratings:
Goalkeeper: Alisson – 3
Consecutive matchday’s where I’ve had to rate Alisson far lower than I ever imagined I’d have to. The number one’s error for the second goal denied his side the opportunity to leave the King Power Stadium.
Although the error was decisive, Alisson did make some crucial saves throughout the game. Most notably, the double save he pulled off to deny Barnes and Vardy in quick succession. These saves saved him from a lower rating.
