When the Portuguese superstar was just emerging onto the scene Liverpool infamously opted out of bringing Cristiano Ronaldo to Anfield and let their arch rivals Manchester United swoop in on the winger.

It was a treacherous mistake which the clue would rue for many years to come.

Since then the Reds have been more efficient in spotting talent. Especially with FSG in command. The Reds have been able to attract some exciting young talent to the squad. Most notably the biggest one of all was undoubtedly Raheem Sterling.

However, recently there have been others too, Kaide Gordon is a good example.

Liverpool have signed a potential superstar.

Nonetheless, the biggest transfer of all could have been Harvey Elliott having lured him to Anfield from Fulham despite the likes of Real Madrid wanting to secure the services of the winger.

Elliott has already shown flashes of his brilliance in a red shirt and this season he has excelled in the Championship.

In an enlightening profile on the 17 year old First Time Finish interviewed some of the people behind Harvey Elliott’s fledgling career.

One of his former coaches Scott Chickelday told First Time Finish that in his eye Elliott has ‘the Ronaldo effect.’

The praise is an impressive one considering Chickelday helped to nurture Elliott.

Of course it does not mean that Harvey Elliott is completely like Cristiano Ronaldo, but what Chickelday alludes to is that Elliott has the same ability to influence games.

The Reds supporters have already seen that on numerous occasions.

Even at 16 Elliott has never looked out of place in a Liverpool shirt. And the same can be said at Blackburn.

There is no doubt Harvey Elliott has a bright future at the club. He has the dazzling feet to beat his opponents. On top of that Elliott also has the vision and the ability to conjure up chances for his teammates.

The profile written by First Time Finish delves into Elliott’s incredible mental fortitude too, from staying behind all the time in training session to being extremely devoted to his craft.

With 9 assists and 4 goals Elliott is standing out in the Championship and it won’t be long until he will be doing the same at Liverpool.
