Liverpool fans have panicked as potentially disastrous injury rumours have spread across the internet ahead of the game against Everton.

This has been a horrible season in so many ways, and supporters have learned to take the rough with the smooth.

Rough: Losing all three senior centre-backs. Smooth: Curtis Jones blossoming as a footballer thanks to his increased opportunities as a result of the centre-back crisis.

Liverpool have had it tough

Rough: Alisson Becker’s injury issues. Smooth: Seeing that Caoimhin Kelleher has the potential to be a Premier League goalkeeper after all.

Rough: The team’s recent league form. Smooth: Marching past RB Leipzig in the first leg of the last 16 round of the Champions League.

You get the point, right?

Just when we think a page has been turned, a line in the sand crossed, those familiar spectres come back to haunt us – which has just happened after a social media rumour has sparked panic online.

Liverpool could have more injury problems

Eagle-eyed viewed of the last batch of Liverpool training photos failed to notice Alisson among those snapped, even though Naby Keita was in there.

Keita has been working his way back from injury very slowly, and it’s good to see him out on the training ground. Whether he’ll be risked against Everton is another matter, and one Jurgen Klopp will have to think long and hard about.

This team can’t take another big game without one of our big game players. Alisson has been world-class since he arrived from Roma, but he does appear to have the odd injury in him and that past history has got fans sweating.

As we count down towards the final stages of the season, things are really being ramped up. The chase for top four is now more important than ever, while there’s still a chance to send this disaster of a campaign with something happy: a Champions League win.

But not if we keep losing key players in important moments.
