There is one thing which makes every Liverpool fan wince. This season every time a player in red has gone down to the ground and screamed in agony supporters around the world had their heart in their mouths.

That was also the case when Jordan Henderson collapsed to the floor in the Merseyside derby against Everton. Fans buried their heads in their heads. The could not bear to watch. It looked grave from the moment the Reds’ captain collapsed to the floor. At first there was a fleeting moment of optimism. Henderson limped back on the field but those hoping he would survive a long term injury would have their hopes crushed when the captain was substituted a few minutes later.

In the aftermath of the events Klopp had little to say about the severity of Jordan Henderson’s injury. The German simply expressed concerns that things were not looking good.

However as more tests were carried out on the Reds’ captain, things have turned from bad to worse.

Liverpool have been dealt another blow.

According to a report by The Athletic Jordan Henderson faces ‘at least a month’ out with injury.

That would be a devastating blow, especially considering the nature of the report alludes that Henderson might be side-lined for  even longer potentially putting his season in jeopardy.

The injury blow is the latest in yet another significant blow to the Reds’ ambition.

Currently all five of Klopp’s initial centre-back options are on the treatment table. It leaves the German with only new signings Ben Davies, Ozan Kabak and academy graduates Nathan Phillips and Rhys Williams as his players to chose from.

With such depleted options it is evident the club needs to change something. Kabak and Phillips performed amicably against Everton though they were not tested to a great extent. What is obvious is neither have the pace which suits Jurgen Klopp’s high defensive line.

The German needs to do something else as the Reds have been exposed far too often this season. And with crucial fixtures coming up, things need to change sooner rather than later.

Whether it’s adding more cover in midfield, having an extra defender to create a back three something needs to be fixed.
