Something has gone awry at Liverpool. Whether it’s in the air. Some sort of second season syndrome or multiple factors merging into one. Perhaps one of the biggest indictment of the Reds; failure has been their lack of proficiency in front of goal.

This is team who scored goals in bundles in previous seasons. Salah, Firmino and Mane had netted a bucketful in the past. Yet somehow they at times have faltered this season. Especially on the hallowed turf of Anfield.

There are multiple reasons behind the sudden decline. But perhaps one of Jurgen Klopp’s biggest deficiencies is that he has the finishers but not so much the creators.

The Reds’ most creative player is Trent Alexander-Arnold, but his creativity is often limited in his full-back role.

Liverpool lack creativity.

It is clear Klopp needs to add more players to his roster who can unlock low-block defences and who have the ability to create moments of quality.

The German might already have the perfect candidate to do this.

Harvey Elliott is one of the best creators in the Championship at just 17 years of age. That feat alone is remarkable but what is the most impressive about the youngster is his ability to conjure up a chance out of nowhere.

Elliott’s low-centre of gravity and clever movement is also able to catch his opponents of guard. He has bamboozled plenty of defenders despite sometimes being half their age.

Harvey Elliott’s former coach speaking to First Time Finish revealed that the 17 year old has the ‘Ronaldo effect.’

That’s certainly the case so far at Blackburn. Others have also compared the youngster to Mohamed Salah and see him as the successor to the Egyptian’s throne.

One cannot argue with that. However, if the Reds’ woes continues, Harvey Elliott might also team-up with Mohamed Salah next season.

That would give the youngster the opportunity to learn from the king first hand. With financial implications looking dire, Klopp and Liverpool could save a fortune just by simply integrating Harvey Elliott into the senior squad.

It could be yet another genius move. For £4m he has certainly proved a bargain so far.
