Liverpool fans around the globe winced when they saw Jordan Henderson tumble to the floor and collapse. It was the stuff of nightmares in an already cursed season. The latest revelations about the extent of the Reds’ captain’s injury has raised yet another conundrum for Jurgen Klopp.
Who should captain the Reds?
In the past and in the game against Everton Georginio Wijnaldum was tasked with that role. However, with the Dutchman set to leave Anfield at the end of the season one must wonder whether Wijnaldum is truly the best man for the role.

At the end of the day a captain has to be a role model and loyal. Someone who is proud to represent the club and would never abandon it. Is Georginio Wijnaldum truly in the best place to lead the Reds at this difficult time?
Liverpool need a new hero.
The question is moot considering he is probably assessing his options and future clubs as we speak.
So then who must take on the responsibility?
In the past Trent Alexander-Arnold has led the Reds. And the scouser definitely has the potential to be a future captain but for now at 22 he might not be the leader everyone looks up to on the pitch.
Instead the responsibility should fall to Mohamed Salah. The Egyptian has been a loyal servant for the Reds and he showed his leadership qualities with a vow to the club’s supporters on Twitter. In recent weeks Salah has been the rare bright spark for an otherwise uninspired side.
And for those reasons alone Mohamed Salah should be the one wearing the captain armband in Jordan Henderson’s absence and no one else.
What do you think? Who should captain the Reds?
