Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has dropped some massive Diogo Jota news before the Premier League game against Chelsea this week.

There’s some joy flowing through Red veins at the moment. The 2-0 win over Sheffield United might not have been groundbreaking, but it broke our run of poor results and gave the side something to aim for in the race for the top four.

Chelsea will be a very different proposition. Thomas Tuchel has brought a structure that was previously unseen under Frank Lampard, and while the Blues aren’t fluent moving forward, they play with a defensive solidarity that’s hard to break down.

Liverpool need Diogo Jota

Klopp will be excited to welcome back a few old faces to the first-team squad, especially during a packed run of fixtures. Liverpool plays Chelsea, then Fulham before the vital Champions League clash against RB Leipzig.

We’ll need our full range of talents, and that includes Portuguese star Diogo Jota. The Times journalist Paul Joyce has tweeted that Jota will be assessed before the Chelsea game, which means there’s a chance he’ll be included in the squad.

Alisson Becker is also back, which means that Adrian will have to relinquish his role between the sticks after a good clean sheet against the Blades.

Fabinho is also available, which could be really important. It also gives Klopp a decision to make, and he’ll have to decide whether or not he should go with the young duo of Nat Phillips and Ozan Kabak, or field Fabinho back in defence.

Jota can provide Liverpool with a rest

Klopp’s front three could really do with a rest. Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah have played a lot of minutes between them, and the Portugese international could cover all three of those roles.

With no Takumi Minamino and Divock Origi out of favour, the trio has had to go it alone for a long time – even if they’ve been in and out of form.

If we see him back in the team for Chelsea, that would provide a huge boost to the squad and the fans.
