Captain Fantastic. Mr Liverpool.
Steven Gerrard was often referred by sobriquets at Anfield rather than by his own name. But it is a name that will be indelible for hundreds of years to come at the hallowed turf. Gerrard was a hero. People and teammates looked up to him on the field. He could inspire moments of magic and he was always there to lift the team up.
Yes he went through adversity too, but throughout it all he was extremely devoted to the club.
Now as the Reds are enduring a miserable plight, Steven Gerrard has just achieved his greatest success as manager having finally dethroned Celtic’s dominion in the Scottish Premiership.

It has been an achievement done with an impressive playing style and recruitment strategy. Much like Klopp, Gerrard likes to play with offensive full-backs who surge forward to join the attacks and leaves midfielders to cover them in behind.
Steven Gerrard has always been a legend at Liverpool.
And it has not just been in Scotland where Gerrard has excelled, he has done well in the Europa League too helping Rangers play in Europe for the first time in almost a decade and commandeering some impressive victories.
Gerrard has proved he is tactically astute and that he can be just as much of a leader off the pitch as he was on it.
For some, like Frank Lampard the leap to management in the Premier League was too soon. But then again you would have to say Gerrard has trumped Lampard’s achievements by ten fold.
For others like Solskjaer at Manchester United things have worked out fine.
It is a risky leap, however as the Reds continue to decline in form, and Klopp looking like a shadow of himself, perhaps leaving Rangers on a high and taking the helm at Liverpool would be the best move for the club’s former captain.
Steven Gerrard after all understands the Liverpool ethos. He knows what it means to support the club and he will do his all to make sure the Reds succeed.
It could be yet another burning passionate love affair between a club and a man who are intertwined.
