According to reports in The Liverpool Echo, Jurgen Klopp is on the verge of sealing a deal for Wolves winger Adama Traore.

However, before we all get too excited about the prospect we should be aware that the story originated on little known Spanish website El Gol Digital.

We all know that it is going to be a busy upcoming transfer window for the gaffer with Gini Wijnaldum set to sign for Barcelona and the likes of Takumi Minamino, Divock Origi, Xherdan Shaqiri and Harry Wilson all on the transfer list.

Liverpool could spend big

We also know that Klopp is a fan of Traore when he’s at his raging best, but there is still enough doubt about the big winger’s consistency for me to say that I hope we don’t sign him.

We have already been linked to every man and his dog, which is exciting to a point. But some of the names being banded about are leaving me a little underwhelmed as we look to build a squad ready to take the title back. Luis Suarez, Philippe Coutinho and now Traore are three names that seem to be steering us away from the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Jadon Sancho.

It’s been a long hard season leaving the club and its fans tired and drained. We need to set out our intentions for next season by backing Klopp and bringing in players that we can all get very excited about.

More from Rush The Kop

If this means raising more money then I would not be against selling Sadio Mane to fund such a move. As good as he has been during his Liverpool career there has just been something missing in his game and maybe we should cash in and spend on a big positive refresh so we can attack the title in a big way.

I can understand the Suarez deal to a certain extent if he is coming in on a free. However splashing out on Traore, who is a player that regularly goes missing despite his obvious physical attributes, is not what we need right now.

Let’s go big, let’s go hard and my fingers are crossed that we see Jadon Sancho lining up on the left of our front three in August.
