Coutinho being fit to play for Brazil is a huge insult to the many Liverpool fans who have defended him throughout the Barcelona transfer saga.

We all know Philippe Coutinho wants to go to Barcelona. We have known this for sometime, even before things turned sour between Liverpool and the Brazilian. Throughout this long summer many Liverpool fans have stood by the player. He is a special talent and has been our best player since Suarez left in 2014.

Liverpool have been adamant, every step of the way, that he is not for sale this summer. Despite numerous offers and endless games from the Spanish press, the club have not wavered. Rather than accept this Coutinho put in a transfer request. Still fans defended him

Then as the season came round he was suddenly missing with a back injury. An injury that turned into an illness. We all suspected what was really going on but these are the games that happen in transfers.

Yet to see Philippe Coutinho given a clean bill of health and smiling with Brazil doctors and then straight into training for his country is an insult.

A player on strike can be fined for not honoring his contract. An injured player cannot.

So this is the scenario. He wants to play for Barcelona. He wants to feature for Brazil. but he also wants to get paid by Liverpool.

Lying about his injuries is a slap in the face to every Liverpool fan that has stood up for him and every Red who has pleaded the case for keeping him.

I would sell him tomorrow. However, there is a good chance he will be a Liverpool player on September 1st. If he is, then he cannot simply expect our forgiveness this year. He needs to say sorry. He needs to beg for our forgiveness.

He is very lucky we are playing well. Even more lucky that Naby Keita is on the way. If we weren’t so happy his shirt might be burning in the streets.
