Liverpool: Thierry Henry has wild praise for Roberto Firmino

Liverpool star Roberto Firmino is receiving numerous plaudits after reaching 20 goals this season and Thierry Henry is leading the praise for the Brazilian.

Liverpool fans already know he is special but increasingly the wider media is catching on to just how good he is. Reaching the 20 goals mark this season has brought out some much deserved adulation for Roberto Firmino.

Though on Monday night he received some special praise from a Premier League legend. Thierry Henry gave Firmino a string of compliments as he highlighted the player’s special contribution to Liverpool.

Firstly he enthused over his finish for the opening goal; he hits it so well that the keeper does not even move. The great work from Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mohamed Salah setting up Firmino for the opportunity.

But it was Firmino’s assist for the second goal that really had the French analyst in rapture. As the ball is played to him he senses Jack Stephens coming into make a tackle. Anticipating the defender, he flicks the ball up his leg, over the tackle of Stephens, and into the path of Salah.

It was a remarkable piece of vision and execution that turned the tide of the game. Southampton were gaining a hold of the match as they searched for the equalizer. that one piece of magic from Firmino effectively sealed the win for the Reds.

Henry went so far in his praise of Firmino that he said ‘I would like to have played with this guy’. Coming from a player who also played with Bergkamp, Messi and Ronaldinho – that is an astonishing remark.

Liverpool fans will be keeping an eye out for a new contract for the star who has become the center piece of Jurgen Klopp’s attacking system. The Reds need to get him tied down to a long-term contract as soon as possible.
