Liverpool have received some great news ahead of a potential summer transfer with goalkeeper Alisson Becker choosing Anfield as his preferred destination.

There are some hot summer transfer rumours that are burning into March. The continued interest in forward pair Thomas Lemar and Christian Pulisic continues as well a Liverpool becoming favorites to sign Jorginho from Napoli.

However the hottest rumour of the lot is for Roma goalkeeper Alisson Becker. The Brazilian international has become the clear first choice in the Italian capital and has wowed fans with his ability on the ball and goal tending credentials.

The good news for Jurgen Klopp is that Liverpool are the keeper’s number one choice. The player wants to join the Red revolution that is taking place at Anfield. He has watched this year as his former teammate Mohamed Salah has risen under Klopp’s coaching to be one of the best forwards in Europe. Alisson wants the same thing to happen to his career.

Earlier in the year it looked as if a new keeper this summer was a certainty. Klopp finally lost patience with Simon Mignolet and threw in Loris Karius to the first team. Karius had previously done little to inspire confidence that he is the long-term solution at the position.

However his recent form has been excellent. He is has consistently put in strong performances with a number of crucial saves to help Liverpool put together a great run of results.

If Karius can sustain this form through the end of the season – including impressing in the latter stages of the Champions League – then perhaps Liverpool will be reconsidering their summer plans.

Alisson will cost Liverpool £50 million if they make a move. That is a ton of money to drop on a goalkeeper. I think that is a fair price for him but Klopp will surely rather spend that money on other areas of the squad if we already have an above average keeper at the club.
