Liverpool strolled to 2-0 victory at Anfield today against Newcastle in the Premier League. Here are our Liverpool player ratings v Newcastle.

Liverpool are up to second place in the league for at least 48 hours with a very comfortable win over Newcastle. It was the first time that Liverpool have beaten a Rafa Benitez side as Jurgen Klopp kept his promise of giving the former manager no favors.

More from Rush The Kop

Klopp made only two changes to the side that beat West Ham last weekend. The in-and-out rotation of center backs continued with Joel Matip making way for Dejan Lovren. The only other change was Jordan Henderson replacing James Milner who missed out starting against his former team.

For the second week running Liverpool needed patience in the first half against a deep-lying side. But just like last week the deadlock was broken around the 30 minute mark as Mohamed Salah bagged his 24th Premier League game of the season.

Mane doubled the advantage by finishing a fluid Liverpool counter attack. Now attentions can move to finishing off Porto in the Champions League in midweek.

Goalkeeper. Liverpool. LORIS KARIUS. 8. A top class save at the end of the first half was just another example of a great save at a crucial moment from the German keeper. At 2-0 he came out with supreme confidence to grab the ball as it was landing on a Newcastle head; that’s mine and I’m having it. Great job Loris!
