Liverpool are being linked with a move for Premier League legend Yaya Toure on a free transfer from Manchester City after recent comments.

There are two camps of thought in the Liverpool fan base surrounding the idea of signing Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure on a free transfer; the club should do it to bring in a proven Premier League player with vital experience or Liverpool should leave well alone, he is old and slow and expensive.

Well, the last reason not to get him just became irrelevant. The agent of Yaya Toure revealed today that the midfielder would play for Liverpool for just £1-a-week. The Ivorian is desperate to join a top six Premier League club to prove former manager Pep Guardiola wrong.

The bitterness towards the Spanish manager of Man City runs deep. The agent was quoted as saying: “Now Yaya has many offers from different countries, where they are ready to pay a lot of money, but we decided to dedicate the next season to Guardiola”

This is not the first time Yaya Toure has been linked to Liverpool this summer. Former Red midfielder David Thompson claimed to hear a rumor of a move to have Toure replace Emre Can in the Liverpool anchor role.

Now with the signing of Fabinho from Monaco confirmed Liverpool are not in as desperate need for a defensively minded midfielder as they were a week ago.

However if Toure is really willing to come for a quid per week – or on a very favorable deal to Liverpool – then there is no harm bringing him to Anfield. If he can contribute to the side then fantastic. If he doesn’t make the grade, who cares?

Toure has won three Premier League titles and an FA Cup with City. Perhaps some of his experience and know-how can be passed on to an otherwise young dressing room at Anfield.
