Alisson Becker is a Red. Liverpool have signed a Goalkeeper. Two sentences fans have been desperate to hear for a long time.

As reported by RushTheKop last week, despite confirmation from Jurgen Klopp that Liverpool would give Danny Ward a chance to secure the number 1, in fact, the club were always looking to sign a new starter.

Alisson comes with a hefty price-tag believed to be around £66m, joining from Italian outfit AS Roma. But just what exactly are Liverpool getting for their money? Let’s take a look:

Alisson’s Goalkeeping Style

Liverpool have been linked with a large number of keepers this off-season. That’s only natural when your current first choice throws two in during a Champions League Final.

In terms of fit for the Reds style of play, Alisson appears the clear front-runner. Unlike Jan Oblak, who also had LFC fans begging the club to sign him, the former Roma stopper is used to playing in an attacking team.

Much like his Brazilian counterpart at Manchester City, Alisson is comfortable with the ball at his feet. He can be considered what is popularly known as a “sweeper-keeper”. In fact, Goal.com had previously reported that Roberto Negrisolo (former Roma coach) had dubbed him “the Messi of goalkeepers”.

Although the comparison is certainly a stretch, it is clear that Liverpool have themselves a player that can slot straight into a system. He is adept at dealing with situations where he might be left exposed as his team attacks.

Aside from his ability on the ball though, the Reds also have themselves a keeper with astonishing reflexes. As the video below highlights, Alisson is capable of pulling off impressive saves time and time again.
