Liverpool could miss out to Spurs for transfer target Ryan Sessegnon as he is looking to play more minutes and is worrying of ousting Sadio Mane.

There are new problems around Liverpool Football Club. It was not so long ago that the club were struggling to attract top transfer talent to Anfield because they were concerned to the level the Reds achieving (or not achieving). Now top players like Ryan Sessegnon are worried about making the first team and could choose Spurs instead.

In Melissa Reddy’s excellent behind the scenes look at the Liverpool transfer set-up for Joe.co.uk she reveals that the Reds have struggled to get transfer targets Ryan Sessegnon and Julian Brandt to Anfield because they are not convinced they will break into the first team.

Mohamed Salah is unshakeable as one of the best players in Europe. Roberto Firmino is essential to Jurgen Klopp’s high pressing style. Therefore many of the attacking target Liverpool are pursuing will view Sadio Mane as the man they can replace.

But the reality is the Senegalese forward is an exceptional player who only looks like getting better. When a player like Sessegnon looks at Liverpool he must wonder how long it will be before he becomes a regular.

However when he looks at the Tottenham Hotspur squad he sees that Eric Lamela and Lucas Moura are the obstacles. Neither of those players is anywhere the level of the Liverpool forwards. It is a far less intimidating prospect for incoming stars. Perhaps Christian Pulisic feels the same way.

Tottenham Hotspur are an easier team to play for in that they do not have the same level of ambition or weight of history as Liverpool.

While this may appear to be a real problem it is a nice one to have. Klopp can pick only the players that truly believe in themselves and have the character and attitude to succeed in his world-class squad.
